IEC Receives Prestigious AMWA Presidential Award for Improving Clinical Practice

We are excited to share that the Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC) has been named the 2025 recipient of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) Presidential Award for Improving Clinical Practice. This prestigious award recognizes IEC’s work to make healthcare better, safer, and more accessible for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“IEC’s transformative work is reshaping healthcare for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), a historically underserved population. By centering lived experiences and pioneering systemic change, IEC is setting a new standard for equitable, person-centered care.”

– Dr. Susan Hingle, AMWA President

Founded to address the barriers that individuals with IDD and their families face in accessing quality healthcare, IEC partners with people with lived experience, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to drive systemic change. This recognition from AMWA highlights IEC’s impact in reshaping the way care is taught, delivered, and paid for—ensuring that every patient receives the person-centered, high-quality care they deserve.

“Over the past four years, we have seen firsthand the profound impact of bringing together people with lived experience and healthcare professionals to drive meaningful change. We remain committed to ensuring that every person receives the high-quality, person-centered care they deserve.”

– Dr. Mai Pham, IEC President and CEO

We are honored to receive the AMWA Presidential Award for Improving Clinical Practice. Thank you to AMWA for this recognition!
